NYEC Forum Highlights Partnerships between Vocational Rehabilitation, Schools, and Workforce Systems

On November 6, NCWD/Youth Project Manager Mindy Larson led a discussion session on “Leveraging Partnerships for Work Experience: Collaboration between Vocational Rehabilitation, Schools, and Workforce Systems,” at the National Youth Employment Coalition Members Forum. This session featured lessons from SYEP JumpStart, a supported employment program for students with disabilities run by Washington, DC and operated by School Talk. Funded by the DC Rehabilitation Services Administration, SYEP Jumpstart involves partnerships with the DC Public Schools and the DC Department of Employment Services. Discussion participants learned about useful resources from NCWD/Youth, including Disability Inquiries in the Workforce Development SystemHelping Youth with Learning Disabilities Chart the Course: A Guide for Youth Service Professionals, and the 411 on Disability Disclosure: A Workbook for Youth with Disabilities.
