Disability Studies & Services Center, Academy for Educational Development
The Disabilities Studies and Services Center (DSSC) is part of the U.S. Education and Workforce Development Group at the Academy for Educational Development. DSSC focuses its efforts upon children and youth with disabilities and their families. DSSC staff provides information, referral, and technical assistance in the areas of disabilities, inclusion of people with disabilities in school, employment and community life, disability-related laws and policies, national and state disability resources, and effective research-based practices in education and health. Programs and partnerships include the National Information Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities (NICHCY), the Federal Resource Center for Special Education (FRC), the Healthy & Ready to Work National Center, the Family Center for Technology and Disability, the National Youth Leadership Network, and the Alignment Study of Special and General Education Reform in Comprehensive School Reform Demonstration Programs.
