Baldrige Education

The Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence (http://www.quality.nist.gov/Criteria.htm) provide a systems perspective for understanding performance management. They reflect validated, leading-edge management practices against which an organization can measure itself. With their acceptance nationally and internationally as the model for performance excellence, the Criteria represent a common language for communication among organizations for sharing best practices. The Criteria are also the basis for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award process, which in 1999 began including education institutions.

PEPNet

Promising and Effective Practices Network (PEPNet) (http://www.nyec.modernsignal.net), created and managed by the National Youth Employment Coalition , is a system and an information source, based on practice and research, for identifying and promoting what works in youth employment and development. Specifically, PEPNet works to:

  • improve programming and capacity in the youth employment/development field
  • inform public policy;
  • and increase support for effective youth programming

NCSET

The National Center on Secondary Education and Transition (NCSET) facilitated the work of 40 plus organizations to establish a national voluntary coalition (the National Alliance for Secondary Education and Transition) to develop national standards and indicators of success for education and transition for all youth. These standards are based upon the same categories as Pro-Bank. For more information about the work of this new alliance visit http://www.ncset.org.
