On Wednesday, October 18, 7:30 pm EST, we’re collaborating with the Coalition for Community Schools(@CommSchools) at the Institute for Educational Leadership to discuss ways that community schools can better support youth with disabilities. The #CSchats are designed to engage Community Schools Coordinators in sharing strategies for providing all students with top-quality academics, enrichment, health and social services, and opportunities to succeed in school and in life. For October, they’ve invited NCWD/Youth to the conversation to highlight strategies and resources for supporting students with disabilities who attend community schools, including how to support their career development and transition to employment. Use hashtag #CSchats to join the conversation.

On Thursday, October 26, 7:00 pm EST, NCWD/Youth will host a #NDEAMyouth chat with youth and adults (educators, youth service professionals, families) about ways to support career development among youth with disabilities to increase their career awareness and success in employment. We’ll talk about identifying career interests and strengths, exploring career options, building career readiness skills, navigating decisions about disability disclosure and requesting accommodations, and obtaining work experience. We also want to hear what you’re doing to celebrate NDEAM in your community or organization. Use hashtag #NDEAMyouth to share your perspective, strategies, and resources.
