The U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics released its annual data on the employment status of people with disabilities on June 21. According to the data, in 2017, the unemployment rate for persons with a disability dropped to 9.2 percent from a rate of 10.5 percent in 2016. This is compared with a 4.2 percent unemployment rate for those with no disability. The collection of data on persons with a disability is sponsored by the Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy.
